This is a how-to’s of TechStream10.10.018 on my Windows 10 64-bit tablet. Here are the steps:

  1. Installed TechStream software

Ports (COM & LPT) -> USB Serial Port (COM<n>) where <n> = a system assigned number

Universal Serial Bus Controllers -> USB Serial Converter

Interestingly enough, Windows 10 installs the most up to date drivers for these devices. I tried to manually install the MVCI drivers from the MSI, no avail – on reboot, Windows 10 overwrites these.

Anyways, I don’t think manually updating the drivers is necessary with the registry hack.

  1. Loaded TechStream
  2. In the menu, go to Setup -> VIM Select -> select Interface Setup = XHorse – MVCI
  3. Turn vehicle to ON, position II
  4. Select ‘Connect to Vehicle’ and you should be able to connect!

Step 4: Please wait for the download of Widnows 10 installation file.
Step 5: Connect the USB disk to target PC. Boot the PC from USB flash drive.

Note: Please change the boot order in BIOS setup and put “Removable Devices” as the first choice.

Step 6: Click “Repair your computer” in the bottom-left corner after you boot your PC from the USB disk.
Step 7: When you enter Windows recovery environment, select “Troubleshoot”> “Advanced options”> “Startup Repair”.

Solution Three: Restore System with Windows Recovery Environment

This solution requires an administrator account to perform. Please create it if you don’t have. Besides, it’s suggested to backup some important files before recovering system.
Step 1: Create Windows 10 bootable media according to Solution Two. Click “Repair your computer” in the bottom-left corner when you see the Windows 10 installation screen.
Step 2: After you enter Windows Recovery Environment, select “Troubleshoot”> “Advanced options”> “System Restore”. Then type the administrator account name and password and follow on-screen instructions.
